Chromecast Ultra

The chromecast is a small device made by Google for controlling your TV via phone

Chromecast is an HDMI device that plugs into your tv, allowing you to control video playback from your phone. The second generation of this product (release September 2015) features faster speeds, surround sound support and an updated design.  The second generation Chromecast is priced at $35, and can stream 1080p high definition video.

The Chromecast Ultra was released in November 2016, and features significant visual display upgrades (including 4K and HDR support). It also features a faster load time for videos & apps than previous models.

The Chromecast devices work with both android and iOS devices, and even from a macOS or Windows machine. There is also a good range of apps that can be used. When you use the app on your chosen device and hit the chrome cast button, the app will then appear on your tv with full interactivity.

Some of the best supported apps include:

  • Netflix
  • HBO Now
  • Hulu
  • Spotify
  • Youtube
  • Chrome Browser

The Chromecast gets power from a microUSB port that requires a plug. It also features an ethernet cord integration, if you prefer to use ethernet plug instead of wifi. The device integrates with the Google home app, which is googles smart home app integrating with other products in their emerging smart home field (like the Google Home).
